Doowop Artists

The variety of performers who have recorded "Blue Moon", it reads like the history of music: Django Reinhardt, Mel Torme Billie Holiday, Dizzie Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, Julie London, Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, The Supremes, and even Bob Dylan, My Morning Jacket.
But the most famous, recorded by Pittsburgh-based doo-wop group the Marcels, was a shock in 1961 when the track was known as a slow, lilting ballad. The composer Richard Rogers hated While the presentation of full-page ads urging people not to buy it.
Despite the negative reaction of the musical elite, was a great success. The version of the Marcels', who immortalized the phrase "bomp-baba-bomp-ba-bomp-ba-bomp-bomp-became a # 1 hit internationally, and is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 500 songs that shaped rock and roll.
The controversy surrounding "The Marcels" Blue Moon "only serves to add another element and unusual history, which began in 1935 with composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Lorenz Hart.
Rodgers and Hart also wrote songs like "My Romance, My Funny Valentine "," the lady is a "vagabond" Bewitched, bothered and bewildered "and many more.
The music of "Blue Moon" was originally written for the actress Jean Harlow to sing in the 1934 MGM movie Hollywood Party, as "Prayer (Oh Lord, make me a movie star). "Never used.
Hart would go on to review the melody with different lyrics ("The Bad For each "man," It is precisely this type of game), but neither became a success.
head editing MGM, Jack Robbins, Hart said he needed a title claw and romantic lyrics. Hart was reluctant to do so, but in the end, a classic was born.
On the basis of the expression "once in a blue moon," referring to something that rarely happens, the result was "Blue Moon, I was alone, without a dream in my heart without a love of mine. "The rest was history.

Doo Wop Box $49.98 The unwritten rules for doo-wop groups were deceptively simple: name your group after a bird (the Wrens, the Flamingos) or a car (the Cadillacs, the El Dorados), practice your two-, three-, or four-part harmonies on a neighborhood street corner or in the back of a candy store, and sing songs about how much you love your baby. It might have seemed like an obvious formula, but getting it just right ... |
